Pop phenomena are nothing new and have always been a source of fascination: from Elvis and the Beatles to Michael Jackson and Britney Spears. Why are pop artists such important figures in our society? What does it take to have us all in a frenzy? We would like to explore these questions with the University of Basel language teacher Andrew Shields and five Basel-based musicians and take a closer look at one of the biggest pop phenomena of our time: Taylor Swift.

Since autumn 2012, Mitten in der Woche has offered Basel's band and music scene a place to exchange ideas and experiment in a relaxed atmosphere. Originally based in Kuppel, the series has been taking place at Kaserne Basel since 2016. An evening by musicians for musicians and music lovers, free of charge and with the support of Kaserne Basel, Brocki Irma und Fred and Musikbüro Basel.
